hey sorry about the second email but the bird walk i advertised in yesterday’s newsletter will now be on thursday, september 8!! i’m leading a free walk at prospect park at 5:30pm, meeting at the stranahan monument, going til 7pm. my friend efua is also leading a walk at central park at 5:30, meet at w81st and central park west. figured i’d let you all know in case anyone was planning on coming.
i’m probably still going to go look at birds in the rain, though. remember in the last post where i talked about following the winds to look at birds? there’s another wind direction that can bring cool birds, which is strong east or southeast winds. the hope is that birds which are otherwise out-to-sea will be blown closer to shore and be visible from coney island or the rockaways. here’s a few bad photos i’ve snagged of seabirds i’ve seen from nyc during or after periods of strong southeast winds.
